It's a Jungle Out There...

Published on by Roger Karny

I saw "Jungle Book", the movie based on the story by Rudyard Kipling. The boy Mowgli is the only non-computer enhanced character in the movie. Of course, the visuals were amazing.

What struck me was that a movie can now be made totally in a studio and be computer-enhanced to look almost real in nature. The animals were real enough looking and their mouths moved as they spoke. It was amazing.

I have to lament, though, that now movies about the jungle can be made without going within thousands of miles of any jungle... But I think that's not too different from making an animation of the story.
