A MAGNETIC TRAIN?

Published on by Roger Karny

The Wall Street Journal had an article about, yes, a magnetic train that may becoming to the U.S. soon. In fact, engineers want to build it between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.

Some that take that commute by car daily say it can take up to an hour and a half during rush hour.

This magnetic train is touted to do it in 15 minutes! At speeds over 200 miles per hour, if I recall correctly.

Japan already has a prototype not quite operational yet, and in fact their people are sponsoring the proposal here.

But... magnetic, you say? How so?

It will have magnets of some kind pulling it along at these high speeds. It will travel a few inches above the ground, so I assume it wouldn't have any kind of track to go on. And magnets don't run on gasoline. I suppose the magnets would be electricity powered.

But the comment I liked was made by a U.S. transportation person. When challenged with the comment that it was all just a pipe dream, he said, "That may be true, but all great ideas start as pipe dreams."

Bring on the pipes! Why not?!
